Hello! Welcome to my 1st blog post. I embarked on a new season filled with firsts. This past weekend, I participated in my first farmers market. It has been something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, but as an introvert, gathering the courage to step out there took me a bit. (About a couple of years, haha). Moreover, my sister-in-law's encouragement really helped give me the push I needed. She has truly been my greatest supporter in transforming my hobby into a business. I’m so grateful for her support. It was an incredibly fun experience, and I'm thrilled I took the leap. My sister accompanied me, and we managed to sell at least one of nearly everything I brought. I engaged with many people in the community and was excited to share my passion for the reclaiming yarn process while also introducing them to my reclaimed "Hooked & Found" yarn line. (Another post will follow about the reclaiming process later.) Here’s a sneak peek of my amazing and talented friend who crafted a sweater tank and handkerchief for the summer using some of the yarn. She was so gracious to let me use it as an example of how beautifully reclaimed yarn works up in a project. She used a Wheat stitch on this pattern that she purchased from another crochet artist you can check out here.
Another product I am super excited about and had so much fun designing is a minimalist charm earring set I call "Third Times a Charm". I recently added it to my shop and will have plenty more charms coming soon. So what are they? Basically, you select the size of the base hoop made from durable surgical steel, and then you add three charm sets that can easily slide on and off the hoops. The set is priced at $25, allowing you to enjoy three different looks. You can explore more charm options on my site whenever you wish to vary your hoops. I really love my hoops; I wear them to sleep, in the shower, and only remove them when I want to switch up my charms or just take of the charms to wear the hoops on their own. My ears are quite sensitive, and using surgical-grade steel helps prevent any irritation and prevents any plated chipping or discoloration ensuring longevity.
Overall, my first market was a fantastic experience, and I’ve registered for another market this Sunday, as well as a two-day holiday craft fair in November. So, if you’re looking for something to do on Sunday, 7/19, come visit the Seabeck Farmers Market between 12-4 and say hi. I sell my items at a discount at markets since I don't have to take into account shipping costs. I also offer items not listed on my website that you will only find at markets as the majority of my items are one of a kind. I look forward to sharing more of my market journey with all of you. Thank you for taking the time to stop by and be a part of my first post.
Stay weird, brave and handmade,
-Deb
