FAQs
What materials do you use?

I utilize a diverse selection of high-quality yarns, metals, gemstones, wood, resin, and beads in various shapes and sizes, as well as any other materials that capture my interest, such as seashells and stones found on the beach or vintage jewelry from a thrift store.

For my reclaimed yarns, I focus on natural fibers. However, some fiber blends may contain a small amount of synthetic fiber providing the majority of the fiber is natural.

What is your Process for reclaiming yarn

The first step in reclaiming yarn is sourcing the yarn. I do this by visiting various thrift stores throughout the Pacific Northwest and search through racks of clothing. I look for quality knitted and crocheted items that contain at minimum 50% natural fibers that can be unwound in long continuous pieces. Before disassembling the item I wash and dry it through. Once dry, I begin carefully disassembling each section. Each section is then gently unwound. The process of disassembling and unwinding can take several hours depending on several factors. Mostly I disassemble sweaters which typically have 4-5 sections. Once loosely rewound from disassembly I steam the yarn to straighten the fibers which is then weighed and measured. Finally I spin it back to life on my yarn winder. Lastly, the skein is weighed one final time and the label is applied, which contains the yarns fiber content, weight and length. It now is ready to be given a new life.

Note: Because I try and salvage as much yarn as possible, occasionally there will be portions that have been tied to continue the skein, though I try and minimize this as much as possible. If there are any skeins that have an abundance of this I will include it in the listing.

Are handmade items one of a kind?

Absolutely, every item I craft is by hand and one-of-a-kind. I prefer not to adhere to patterns whenever possible. I enjoy embracing creativity in my designs and creations. I will however take special orders if you would like anything made in a matching set.

Certainly! I offer unique gift wrapping that enhances the nature-themed design. Just let me know if you'd like anything wrapped as a gift. I'm also glad to include a card with a personalized message if I'm sending this straight to the recipient of the gift.

I appreciate you taking the time to visit. My name is Deb, and I've spent my entire life in the Pacific Northwest, except for a couple of years spent in Texas. After returning from Texas, I discovered a newfound admiration for the beauty of the place I proudly call home. I had never truly understood how much I cherished the Douglass firs, crows, seagulls, the scent of saltwater, and the RAIN of all things. This space serves as my avenue to share this chapter of my life with others and to sprinkle a bit of joy along the journey.
